Sunshine Girls’ treated to twelve days of fun
The residents of the Sunshine Home for Girls, located in Johnson’s Point, recently completed the second day’s activities held under “The Twelve Days of Christmas” programme.
The eight girls, according to a release, enjoyed a packed schedule of fun and games courtesy of Swalings Day Camp. The day prior, they were treated to an Island Safari Tour from Tropical Adventures, which included sightseeing at the historic National Parks, and a picnic lunch at Betty’s Hope.
“The Twelve Days of Christmas” is an initiative of Halo, a charitable organisation founded by Lady Sandra Williams who — along with her husband Governor General Sir Rodney Williams — is a patron of the Sunshine Home for Girls. For each of the 12 days, the girls will be treated to fun events and meaningful gifts from local organisations that have partnered with the Halo Foundation to bring seasonal sparkle into their lives.
“The aim of the foundation is to assist the many organisations that fall under our patronage,” Lady Williams said. “There is so much sadness, distress and poverty on a global scale, but charity begins at home. Right here in Antigua, there are people who need as much care and attention as we are able to give, and we hope to rise to this formidable challenge with the help of our many friends and partners.”
Sir Rodney and Lady Williams are also patrons of several other charitable causes
