New University Scholarship Opportunity for Young Antiguans

Henley & Partners, the global leader in citizenship and residence planning, teams up with The Halo Foundation of Sir Rodney and Lady Sandra Williams to fund a student for four years at Saint Mary’s University in Canada.

As part of ongoing efforts to create opportunities for the development and empowerment of young people in Antigua and Barbuda, Henley & Partners has announced its first annual “Henley & Partners Hero Scholarship”, to be managed by The Halo Foundation of Sir Rodney and Lady Sandra Williams.

The scholarship is exclusive to Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada and the awardee will have the all their costs covered, including tuition, student association and graduation fees, accommodation and meals, medical and dental insurance, books and other educational supplies, clothing, local transportation and a return air ticket from Antigua to Halifax each year during their four years of study.

Henley & Partners Director in Antigua and Barbuda, Gaye Hechme, states: “By making this scholarship available, in support of career development and nation building, we hope to provide talented, caring and committed young people with the opportunity to become the drivers of their own futures.”

To be eligible for this award, the applicant must be a fifth form or tertiary level student, or a recent graduate of a secondary school or tertiary institution. They must be between the ages of 16 and 25 years, a national of Antigua and Barbuda, and be able to demonstrate that they have been involved in outstanding acts of bravery or kindness. The applicant must present three credible references that can support their application.

Application forms can be downloaded from www.foundationhalo.org or collected from Government House on Independence Avenue, St. John’s. Completed forms should be returned to Government House before 20 July 2016 to qualify for admission into the beginning of the university year in September 2016.

We think it is important not only to assist in the expansion of tertiary academic opportunities for Antigua and Barbuda’s youth, but also to encourage bravery and kindness within the hearts and minds of our country’s young citizens.”

The scholarship awardee will also become the recipient of the Halo Hero Humanitarian Medal.
