The Halo Foundation, headed by Their Excellencies Sir Rodney Williams and Lady Sandra Williams, recently received a supply of cricket gear from the Bromsgrove School in the United Kingdom.

The under 16 and under 18 teams arrived in Antigua on March 22nd, and played against the Antigua Grammar School, All Saints Secondary, Clare Hall, Grass Roots, St.Joseph’s Academy, Ottos Comprehensive and Princess Margaret School.

According to the school’s website, “At the end of a successful tour, the boys had time to visit Government House in Antigua to meet the Governor General and his wife, to support the Halo Foundation. We were made extremely welcome. The development side all attended (while the first team were playing their final rearranged game), donating cricket equipment, books, pens, and some tour clothing”.

Governor General HE Sir Rodney Williams gave the school and their leaders a brief overview of the history of Government House, and entertained them with some interesting stories on cricket in Antigua and Barbuda. He emphasized the importance of sports in the youth curriculum, and urged the group to continue to train hard if they wished to attain levels of high achievement in cricket.

Lady Williams, President and Founder of The Halo Foundation , welcomed the team and thanked them for their consideration and interest. She noted that, at such a young age, it was commendable for the Bromsgrove School Cricket Team to give back to the communities which they visit.  She assured the team that the items would be passed on to local schools over the next few weeks.

The team’s visit was organized by Firefly Destination Management.   (END)
