Governor General of Antigua and Barbuda and Patron of the Halo Foundation, H.E. Sir Rodney Williams recently commended MINSCAP (the Ministerial Study Course Agency Program) for shifting the paradigm.

He delivered remarks at the end of a 3-day Mental Health Symposium, organized under the theme “HELP – Healing Everyday Life Problems: From Brokenness to Wholeness.”

The event was hosted by the Inter Island Counselling Entity (ICE), a branch of MINSCAP. Under the tutelage of Rev. Dr Lennox Pigott, counsellors conducted extensive local research and presented practical methods to help individuals achieve wholeness in their lives. Their focus areas included general mental health, youth violence, and family relationships, addressing pressing concerns in the community.

Governor General Sir Rodney Williams also acknowledged the vital role of the Halo Foundation Inc. In addition to hosting its own mental health programmes such as anti-bullying campaigns and anti-suicide retreats for teens, the Halo Foundation lends some support to organizations and initiatives that address the mental health challenges faced by young people.

The Governor General’s speech underscored the significance of collaboration and community support in addressing mental health issues and fostering a healthier and more resilient society.
