Hurricane Irma left a trail of destruction across the Caribbean.  Its first victim was the island of Barbuda, battered and bruised, the population left helpless and homeless.  Over 90% of private and public property was completely destroyed, and the island was described as uninhabitable. as the government moved swiftly to evacuate the 1600 residents.

This is the beautiful, pink-sand island paradise which was visited by Prince Harry a few short months ago, and in a recent statement to Governor General of Antigua and Barbuda, His Excellency Sir Rodney Williams, His Royal Highness said:
“I have been so very sorry to hear of the significant damage which Hurricane Irma has caused across Barbuda in the last 24 hours. The loss of so many people’s homes is a heartbreaking blow to the community of Barbuda and to Antigua and Barbuda as a whole. I remember fondly my recent visit to the island and in particular to Holy Trinity Primary and Sir McChesney George High School. The warmth of the welcome I received demonstrated to me the tremendous strength of unity which exists amongst the community. I have no doubt that this bond will be of enormous comfort and support in the weeks and months ahead. You are in my thoughts at this most difficult of times.”
Prince Harry’s support of The Halo Foundation and its constant work with 30 charitable organizations across Antigua and Barbuda, including the Antigua and Barbuda Red Cross,  has also been unwavering.
