Wings of Charity, the annual international dinner and auction organized by the Halo Foundation, was held recently at the Rosewood London.  The gala event was hosted by Their Excellencies Sir Rodney and Lady Williams, and attracted many diplomats, corporate citizens of the United Kingdom and Europe, and friends of Antigua and Barbuda.
President and Founder of the Halo Foundation, Lady Williams, said that Wings of Charity “also provided a platform for our nation’s product and talent to be presented.  We displayed and distributed many locally made items such as soaps, candles, tea, books, paintings and pottery — all made in Antigua and Barbuda.”  In addition, the evening’s entertainment included an enthralling performance from the 30-member strong National Youth Choir, accompanied by Quincy Etinoff and with solo pan performance by Khan Cordice.
In June 2017, Wings of Charity showcased the musical prowess of the Kanneh-Mason family in the presence of HRH Prince Harry.  Sheku Kanneh-Mason was consequently invited to play the cello at the Royal wedding which took place on May 19th this year.
Representatives of charities under the Halo umbrella were also in attendance, inclusive of the Antigua and Barbuda Red Cross and Friends of the Care Project.    The major sponsor of the event was the Calvin Ayre Foundation.  The Blue Waters Resort and Spa and the Antigua and Barbuda High Commission in London also contributed significantly to the evening’s success.
Funds raised will go towards addressing the needs of the 31 charities under the patronage of the Governor General and Lady Williams.
