River Andrews, a student of Island Academy, received the top award of the Halo Christmas Card competition 2017, at a brief ceremony recently held at Government House. Andrews was also named the overall winner of the competition at the first annual event in 2015.

President and Founder of the Halo Foundation, H.E. Lady Williams, thanked the students, parents and teachers for their participation.  “This is the third consecutive year that Halo has been involved in supporting local art.  We recognize that technology and science are tremendously important to our country’s development, but the youth of our nation also need to be encouraged to express their creativity and exercise their imagination.  Art is beauty, and art is all around us.  So it is equally as critical that we recognize and nurture any local artistic talent”.

The students were presented with cash prizes and art supplies by Their Excellencies Sir Rodney Williams and Lady Williams. Both the overall individual awardee and the winning school (Island Academy) were recipients of trophies.
