The Antigua and Barbuda China Friendship Association will host a booth at the 14th annual Shanghai World Travel Fair to be held from April 20 – 24. The five-day event is expected to welcome approximately 440 hosted buyers, 11, 200 trade visitors and several businesses and associations interested in creating new avenues for long term friendships with foreign countries.
“We are extremely fortunate to have secured the sponsorship of the Global Bank of Commerce, as well as that of Little Canton Supermarket, which has facilitated our participation”, said President of ACFA Lady Williams. “The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority will also be represented at the booth by Director of Tourism in the UK, Cherrie Osborne”.
Lady Williams noted that leisure travel from East Asia to the Caribbean is a solid emerging market. She further commented that the relevant industry stakeholders would undoubtedly be in the process of exploring all viable air access and product adaptation options.
While in Shanghai, the ACFA representatives Amaya Athill and Cuthbert Forbes plan to meet with the local and regional friendship associations and youth-oriented groups, with a view to strengthening the cultural ties between Antigua and Barbuda and China on the level of people-to-people cooperation.
Patron of the ACFA, Sir Rodney Williams, expressed his appreciation to the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Antigua and Barbuda, and to the Non-Resident Ambassador, Brian Stuart-Young for the keen interest which they have shown in the organization’s activities.
