Lady Williams is Proud Patron of Team Antigua Island Girls

JOHN’S, Antigua (May 17, 2018) – Her Excellency Lady Sandra Williams, wife of Governor General Sir Rodney Williams and President of the Halo Foundation, has accepted to be the patron of Team Antigua Island Girls, the five-woman team that will contest the 2018 Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge.

Her Excellency will play an important role by leading fundraising efforts for the team, which needs USD $150,000.00 in operational costs. Lady Williams will also be pivotal in the effort to raise funds for the team’s charity, Cottage of Hope, and will also host a fundraising event at Government House at a date in July to be announced.

Lady Williams met with members of the team on Monday, May 14, 2018, at which time she commended their courage to undertake the 3,000-mile cross-Atlantic row and their passion and commitment to bring awareness to issues facing girls and for adopting Cottage of Hope. “It is truly amazing and inspiring to witness the grit and gravitas of these five young ladies.  Such a challenge can only be undertaken with amazing strength and perseverance, and Team Antigua Island Girls is certainly deserving of our utmost support.”

Their Excellencies are patrons of 30 charities primarily concerned with issues of disability, gender, health, youth, education, and culture and the arts. Her Excellency works closely with several of the organizations at the level of fundraising and advocacy, and her involvement often leads to having a hands-on role.

Team Antigua Island Girls is comprised of Elvira Bell, Christal Clashing, Samara Emmanuel, Kevinia Francis and Junella King.
