The Halo Foundation has announced that the The American University of Antigua (AUA) has signed on as Platinum Sponsor of the Wings of Charity Gala, the organization’s inaugural fundraising event, which will be held in New York City on June 30, 2016. In an official presentation ceremony today at Government House, Mr. Neal Simon, President of AUA, handed over the sponsorship cheque to the Governor General, H.E. Sir Rodney Williams.

“We want to express our sincere gratitude to the American University of Antigua for coming on board as platinum sponsors of the Wings of Charity event. This demonstrates the AUA’s support of the Halo Foundation’s mission and underscores our mutual commitment to building a more self-reliant community, by working together to reduce needless human suffering, and by providing greater access to education, healthcare and social and economic empowerment opportunities. Over the past 12 months, the Halo Foundation has organized several fundraisers and volunteer outreach programs to address the needy and less fortunate in society. This contribution from the AUA will greatly assist the Halo Foundation in raising even more funds and will go a long way in supporting the programs of a number of charitable organizations under our patronage,” said H.E. Sir Rodney Williams.

The Wings of Charity Gala is characterized as a fun filled event with a purpose, and will bring together many charitable organizations and individuals in support of a worthwhile cause. The event will highlight the country’s rich culture and heritage and will be themed around Antigua and Barbuda’s 60th Carnival celebrations, which is undoubtedly the Caribbean’s most colorful Summer Festival. Vignettes from Antigua’s Carnival festivities (www.antiguacarnival.com), which will be celebrated July 22 – August 2, 2016, will provide a vibrant backdrop for this exciting event. Guests will experience the destination’s rich cultural heritage through a cultural ensemble that features a variety of colorful carnival costume collections and calypso music.

There will also be a live auction, the Halo Hallmark Collection , featuring a number of authentic products and services that have been endorsed by H.E. Sir Rodney Williams and Lady Williams. The Halo Hallmark collection includes vacation packages, Caribbean art and autographed memorabilia. Among the organizations contributing to the Collection are: Sandals Resorts International, The Inn at English Harbour, Premier Beverages, Copper and Lumber Store Hotel, Carlisle Bay Resort, SIr Vivian Richards Foundation, Suzie’s Hot Sauce, Hama Films and Community First Credit Union. Several individuals have also offered cultural items and locally themed paintings for auction, including Rachel Bento, Dina De Brozzi, Carl Henry and Mark Washington.

Founded in 2014, by Sir Rodney Williams and Lady Sandra Williams, the Halo Foundation, is a nonprofit umbrella charity organization that supports 25 charitable associations in Antigua and Barbuda. The Halo Foundation partners with organizations, businesses and individuals in order to bring awareness and raise funds to help create positive sustainable change to address the most needy citizens. In partnership with a USA registered non profit organization registered under 501(c) 3, the Halo Foundation will take its message about community engagement and commitment to service to New York City, home to the largest community of nationals and the largest source market for visitors to Antigua and Barbuda. The goal is to inspire a new generation of volunteerism and philanthropy and to broaden the Halo Foundation’s fundraising outreach efforts beyond the country’s shores.
